Zaječar Mayoral Candidates Took Part in Pre-Election Debate
On Tuesday, June 3rd at 8 PM, the Facebook page of Glas Zaječara broadcasted the only pre-election debate between mayoral candidates and electoral list leaders in Zaječar. The event, moderated by renowned journalist Suzana Trninić, organized by Zaječar Initiative, brought together political representatives who presented their visions, priorities, and policies on some of the most pressing local issues.
Key topics included the city’s development strategy, rural advancement, regional mining, cultural policy, and the role of youth in the community. The debate offered voters a rare opportunity to compare the candidates side by side and hear their direct responses to questions crucial for Zaječar’s future.
All eight electoral lists, officially declared by the City Electoral Commission, were invited:

- IVICA DAČIĆ – SOCIALIST PARTY OF SERBIA – DECISIVELY FOR ZAJEČAR
- COALITION FOR EASTERN SERBIA – SAŠA RADULOVIĆ GRLJANAC
- WE ARE THE PEOPLE'S POWER, PROF. DR BRANIMIR NESTOROVIĆ – CITY OF ZAJEČAR
- SERBIAN LIBERALS – EXPERTS’ VOICE – VLADIMIR KOVAČEVIĆ
Despite being invited, representatives of lists 1, 4, and 5 declined to participate.
The debate reached a significant audience on social media and contributed to raising the level of political culture and accountability ahead of the elections. During the live broadcast and in the days that followed, over 23,000 viewers watched the stream or the recording.
Organizing such public forums remains a key element of the democratic process, and the Zaječar Initiative has once again demonstrated its commitment to open dialogue within the local community.
