The School Certainly Holds Educational Value!
"Young people must carry virtues from formal education that will make them better citizens," was reiterated several times during the meeting organized by the Zaječar Initiative in Niš.
Teachers of civic education, along with representatives from the civil sector, shared their professional experiences, discussed challenges in teaching this subject, and provided their recommendations for improving instruction.
Participants suggested measures including modernizing content, enhancing lecture interactivity, promoting the subject publicly, offering professional development for teachers, introducing manuals, and fostering closer and more effective collaboration with the Ministry of Education.
After Niš, the Zaječar Initiative will organize meetings in four more cities across Serbia to gather suggestions from other educators. These suggestions will be compiled into a policy brief document with combined recommendations for better civic education and presented to the relevant institutions.
