For a Community that Inspires Change

The Zaječar Initiative is a citizens' association that has been working toward social change since 2001, inspired by the energy of young people who believed in a better future. What began as a small group of activists has grown into a professional organization with clear programs, procedures, and a dedicated team.

In 2010, we launched the Youth Center Zaječar, for which we proudly received the Mladgrad award, and in 2013, we founded the first community development foundation – "Iskorak." Today, we are the leading grant-making organization at the local level in Serbia, with over $300,000 invested in more than 180 projects in the Timok region, creating positive changes in the community through our donations.
